Considerations For A New V Rod Body Kit

By Anthony Stevens

As much as there are many advantages of insurance, there are also terms and conditions that can prove to be a challenge. Such terms and conditions are normally not in favor of what one would want to achieve as they can prove to be limiting. One such instance would be when an owner of a motorcycle wants to install a v Rod Body Kit.

Apart from how a bike handles and its performance, bikers are also very particular on how the bike actually looks. Any scratches or dents will have a biker up in arms and rushing to their mechanics to have them fixed. Unfortunately, it is not always that you will find the exact part in the same color or form that will match the bike.

To them a bike must look as good as how it performs. That is why they go over and beyond including replacing the entire frame when they cannot find one part that is an exact match to the rest of the body. Still on the aesthetics, there are those who change the frame because they simply do not like how it looks.

Apart from dent car scratches and damages from accidents or falling, there are other reasons why a biker would want to install a new body on their bike. The most common one is that they do not like the standard form that the bike came in. Since they could not find the exact type of frame that appeals to them, bike owners opt to find a kit that is appealing to them to replace the original one.

As much as it is easy to purchase whatever kind of frame one would want for the bike, it is not that straight forward when it comes to warranty and insurance. It is best to wait out the warranty period before installing a new body kit. Installing it before the warranty expires result in the cancellation of the warranty meaning that should anything happen before the expiration, you will have to bear the burden of the cost.

Some people normally opt not to inform or consult with their insurance companies when they make modifications to their motorcycles. This is because they do not want to be told what they can and cannot do to spruce up how the machine looks and work. They may get away with it for a certain time but the challenge will come when they need to claim from their insurance company.

This will determine if the insurance company will approve the modification or refuse. Many insurance companies do not have a problem in installing a new body what they normally have an issue is with the type. If the type of body installed will increase the aesthetic value of the bike greatly, then your premium is likely to increase as chances of the bike getting stolen are high increasing their chances of paying out.

It is, therefore, better to state your intention even before you buy the kit that you want to install. Make sure that they approve of it and that you are comfortable with the increase of premium if at all they choose to increase it. Also when stating your intention, make sure you let the insurer know the actual value of the kit you want to install as it will also affect the payout should you ever require one.
