Top haunted establishments in this region include the Crockett, St. Anthony, Sheraton Gunter, Menger and Emily Morgan hotels.

Among the popular inns within the city, the Holiday Inn Express holds the reputation of being the most morbid. A hair raising feeling of foreboding creeps in as you make your way to the reception. Before being turned into an accommodation establishment, it used to be the county jail.

A host of weird experiences have been reported by guests and staff. Once checked in and resting, one cannot shake off the morbid sense of being watched. Some of the frightening tales told involve windows and doors being opened and closed supernaturally. The installed CCTV cameras have also captured many unexplained apparitions.

The Spanish Governors Residence is another historically haunted site. Just staring at the building from the outside gives one the creeps. It has served many purposes since its construction.
