With all those things in your resume, this will be the first thing that employers notice within your resume. Traditionally, a resume format is composed of an educational background first followed by work experience then ended with the skills enumeration. This can be a good format for people looking for their first job however this is not very advisable for older workers who probably already have a few jobs in the past. For older workers, it would be better have the skills enumerated on the first page and then on the second page would contain the long list of work experience, training sessions attended or seminars. If you choose to have an educational background line or page on the first page or line of your resume, you need to make sure that is short and precise.

Dates

One thing in the resume that could distract employers are the dates. To expand this further, imagine if you have finished school 20 years ago and have that specified in your educational background and have your employer see it, he or she would wonder if you still have the knowledge and skills to work with today's modern requirements. They would immediately have second thoughts whether you can perform your tasks using modern methods that are more efficient and less-costly as compared to the traditional methods. A good way to cover up the dates in your resume is by simply specifying the time you have spent for that job or study.

You should point out your eagerness to learn

Despite your experience and your high level of skills you should still have the willingness to learn new things and further improve the great level of skills that you have now. If there is one thing that employers want to hear from their employees its the willingness to learn new things and to further grow. What they want for their company is a staff that wants to grow with their company. You can show your willingness to further improve your skills and learn by emphasizing on your recent training and seminars attended.

Work ethics

The older generations of workers are found to have a better work ethic as compared to the younger ones. You can simply emphasize your loyalty as well as trustworthiness in working with the company and that you are there to stay.

Be confident

Lastly, you won't be able to come up with good content for your resume if you don't have enough confidence. As you consider the contents for your resume, aim for the words that show confidence as these can draw your hiring managers eyes and attention. A good way to do this is by emphasizing these words on the work experience part of your resume. Use words such as I supervised, I managed, I controlled, I spear-headed and others while you write the job descriptions.
