If it is placed prominently, you can make use of a certain material that will surely make it more appealing. For it to have a good appeal, you can make use of a good material for it as well. There are several ways to perk it up. But if you aim to give it character, you have to make use of reclaimed antique exposed beams. It will surely make a durable and good looking beam for your home.

Reclaimed wood is different. The only resemblance that it would have with the normal solid wood would be the appearance the fact that they come from the same material. But when you say reclaimed, it means that it was already used for another purpose. It is said to be durable because it has experienced various elements that made it well seasoned and perfect when you want to achieve sustainability.

You have to be careful when picking a reclaimed product. There needs to be a perfect blend to also make it durable. When you choose this, you have to make sure that it is made out of the best quality and the best processed. You have to remember the function that it would have in your home. Durability is always the most important factor.

Just like any other part of the house, it is necessary that you maintain these beams as well. You have to remember that it would be an issue when the beam gets damaged. Despite the durability that it has, you still have to be wary of the possible issues that might occur when you do not take good care of it.

It is okay for it to get wet. But it is not okay for it to get soaked. If it is constantly exposed to water or liquid, you have to see to it that you immediately dry it out. Wipe it with a cloth that is soaked in warm water to avoid watermarks. Then you should wipe a dry cloth right after to ensure dryness.

Sunlight can be harmful to various things in the home. It can fade the natural color of wood. This is the same for your furniture, your floors and even the beams. Since they are still made of wood, you have to protect them. There is no need for you to alter any part of the designs, you just have to make sure that there are coverings when the sun is directly shining insider your home already.

It is also not advisable that you put any heat emitting appliance near it. And it would also not be good if it is near the fireplace. If you do not want cracks to appear and for it to be dehydrated, you have to strategically place these things far from each other.

One of the ways to keep it protected is to apply a coating of polish on it. This will also enhance the appearance of the entire beam. Wipe it with clean cloth as much as possible. The oil that has accumulated in the surface will cause more dirt to stick to it.
