The Best Frozen Vegetable Burgers

By Olivia Cross

Vegan and Vegetarian foods are often a desired or acquired taste. Many meat eaters can not even stand the thought of trying a substitute whether in a sandwich or entree. Some of the best frozen vegetable burgers taste almost identical to beef. With the onset of issues related to tainted livestock and food borne illness, more individuals are now turning to a diet which includes meat, poultry and seafood substitutes and other vegetarian foods.

One great thing about different brands of veggie burgers is that all can be made in different ways. Whether chopped up into chili, or severed in traditional recipes, these foods offer a lot in the way of meat substitutions and recipe enhancements.

Individuals with great cooking skills can also make these substitutes from lentils, black beans and vegetables. When using vegetables in a mix for patties, it is essential to use fresh rather than frozen as fresh vegetables tend to hold flavor better than can or frozen. Whether using only black beans for spicy black bean burgers, only vegetables or a combination, a number of different style patties can be created from scratch.

A number of individuals now create veggie and other sandwiches from scratch. Whether patties for a burger or sliced vegetables and cheese for a gyro, there are always a number of different options. There are often more options for vegetable type sandwiches than meat types. This often depends on whether or not an individual can live on a vegetarian diet, that is if one is actually on a complete and full vegan or vegetarian plan.

While some individuals stick to a strict vegetarian or vegan diet, there are also others who eat meat that enjoy a good veggie sandwich from time to time. Generally, these individuals are going to find the Boca brand to be as close to the taste of meat as possible. Other foods in the Boca line, include faux chicken patties, plain or spicy, all of which taste almost exactly like meat counterparts.

Veggie hot dogs are often on the diet of those on special diets. While it can be easy to make patties and other vegetarian entrees from scratch, veggie dogs are not as easy. The good news is that there are two brands which taste as close to traditional dogs as possible. These are SmartDogs and TofuPups, both of which can now be found in most grocery stores which offer meat substitutes.

Vegetarians are often not looking for a taste that compares to beef, rather just food that taste good and is healthy in design. There are a number of different brands on the market though only a few reflect the taste of quality vegetables and grains. Some of the best of these include Amys, Boca Grillers, Garden Burger, Morningstar Farms and Trader's Joe's brands. Depending on the local area, individuals may also find a number of local, regional, national and international brands in the area.

Ultimately, it is best to try a number of different brands before deciding on a favorite. Also, while some patties hold up for additives and sauces, others do not. Deciding on which brand can often depend on what type of recipe in which these meat substitutions are to be used. When making recipes in which veggie patties can be cut up, then most any brand will work fine. Whereas, when adding toppings or other ingredient, generally the courser the patty, the better.
