Accessing Online Database Of California Arrest Records

By Claire Dowell

The Mendocino County Sheriff's office is the caretaker of files regarding Mendocino County Sheriff Arrests. The sheriff's office maintains a log of their daily operations which they display on their official website. In accordance to the Public Records Act of the State of California Government Code 6254, citizens are given the right to access the files.

All arrests performed are properly documented, regardless if whether the person is put to prison or not. If there is enough evidence to support that the arrested person is guilty, the documents of the arrest will become permanent and will be open for public access. If the person is found innocent, the arrest document will remain away from the hands of the public. It shall, however, remain in the hands of the sheriff's office for future reference.

Before carrying out a search, acquire the proper request form at the sheriff's official. You can also obtain it from their website by downloading it. Fill it out by providing all the necessary pieces of information. Double check the information that you provide and make sure that they are up to date because it will be a factor in the success or failure of the search. Once you have got that down, include your personal details and provide any proof of identification. There are payments that you need to comply to for each request that you place, which are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the search.

You are permitted to access your own arrest files in Mendocino County. In case you find any inaccuracy on the details written on your files, you can appeal to the custodian of your files to look at it and update it accordingly. You can access the files of other people but only if you are authorized by the court. Members of the law enforcement agency, legal representatives, landlords, and employers are examples of people who are authorized to do so. If you are not any of the people aforementioned, you have to have a legitimate reason why you want to get your hands on the files. If the file's custodian is not satisfied with your reason, they are entitled to deny you access.

Another way of obtaining arrest records is through an online search. There are online service providers that specialize in maintaining and providing such records to the public, with the consent of the government. There are many service providers out there and all will claim that they are legit providers of the records. Although there are some who are legit, not the same can be said of the others. Prior to choosing which service provider to use, list a short list of service providers you are considering of using and conduct a background check on them. Gather as much information as you can about them until you are convinced that they really are legit.

If you want to find see pictures and view the names, addresses, birthdays, and other important information of arrested criminals in the California, there is a California Mugshot Database where you can do just that. However, note that the people you will see on the database are not yet convicted. They are still considered innocent until a verdict is imposed.
